    Charlie,

One way we’ve tried to approach this topic in Goochland County is through library weblogs for each media specialist. In each of our media center webpages, we incorporate the topics media specialists are blogging about, and each topic is one click away. The ease by which our media specialists update their media center sites also allows them to target classroom projects with resources that pertain to those projects. We’ve just begun this school year, but we’ve started on a positive note. I’d encourage your readers to take a gander at our media specialist blogs.

    Charlie,
Great idea! I will enjoy reading and participating from here in SC. As AASL Region 4 Director, I bet I will hear (read) ideas, challenges, concerns, victories that I will be able to share with AASL Board. Virginia Wallace

    To John Herndon,

I’m very interested in reading the library bloggs, but I can’t get to them. Are they only for Goochland folks?

    Ellen,
Try the links again. I was able to click directly on the links and went to the Goochland sites.

I think this is a great idea and will be happy to read and share what’s happening in libraries here in Virginia. I read about blogs in School Library Journal and was wonderinf where they were.

I’m on a flexible schedule and this is the second year I’ve been doing it. It was rocky at first and requires more work than a fixed schedule, but I enjoy it a lot better. Having the variety of classes and different kids all the time is what really makes my day. Collaborating with teachers has gotten easier and as the year progresses my teachers are really getting the hang of changing their time and days to accomodate assembly programs and field trips. I can schedule parent conferences and ot have to worry about someone being upset because they missed their day

    Hi Gina,
Glad you came to visit my blog. Have you been using the Linking Libraries project. It has some excellent lessons, strategies, and activities that work really well in a flexible schedule. Best of all they are tied to the SOL!
